Hi BD

I think , maybe your last Q on specie choise(s)/feeds, relates more to your spesific system/climate rather than being a iAVs Q ?

so I suggest moving it ,including Mattyogas answer ,here :

What say you ? :D

cheers

On fish species question,

While theoretically any aquatic organism can be raised in aquaponica, in practice, it is dominated by just a few.

The big four in aquaponics had been (as per my readings) Tilapia, Hybrid Bass, Rainbow Trout, and Yellow Perch (yes, depending on climate) but then there are many other species of aquatic organisms have been raised.

We have been trialing on five other species and raised some of these very successfully (in India.)  Here is a list.

- Asian seabass (barramundi)
- Freshwater shrimps (macrobrachium rosenbergi)
- Carps - common carp, silver carp, and grass carp
- Pearlspot (my state fish)
- Climbing Perch (Anabas cobojius/gangetic bananas), a brand new species under trials at some of our aquaponics sites.  Results are yet to come but then looking at the current stats I would call it the future fish best suitable for commercial aquaponics.

Yeah, I'm happy enough to have those posts moved to my thread, if you wish Ande...I don't mind if they are here or there...

Cheers.
