Fried Green Tomatoes

A southern United States speciality, fried green tomatoes are great in the summer.  You take a little olive oil and put enough to cover the bottom of a flat bottom pot, take some tomatoes right before they are starting to ripen when they are starting to turn.  If you use them when they are still solidly green, they have a slightly more sour or tart taste, which also is good.  You slice them up thinly and sprinkle some garlic salt on them.  You'll turn them each once, sprinkle some more garlic salt, and take them out once they start to soften up a little bit.


A great snack!
