Insulating greenhouse floor ??

3 posts in this topic

I have been told of many options... Putting down concrete that is ontop of styrophoam insulation ... Or... using a compacted layer of mulch ... Or... using gravel (which I guess this wouldn't want to be done during summer)...

If there are any videos or documents that can explain this step by step, then this would be very helpful.

How do you go about insulating a greenhouse's floor?

Hi charles

This might be of help http://web.ornl.gov/sci/roofs+walls/foundation/ORNL_CON-295.pdf

from here : http://web.ornl.gov/sci/roofs+walls/insulation/ins_07.html#publications

You might want to look into the principals of umbrella houses http://www.norishouse.com/PAHS/UmbrellaHouse.html

If you have the machinery you can make use of moving around some soil and go inground http://reclaimgrowsustain.com/content/underground-greenhouse-construction-manual

cheers

Thank ya. Gives me some ideas. I will see if there is anything I can derive from it so to be put into practice in an above ground greenhouse context.
