Hello, my name is Rebekah and I am just acquiring equipment for a small setup to grow cooking herbs in. I've been tagging along with a friend as he had gotten a larger system up this past summer, but i'm hoping to learn a bunch from all of you, as I understand that smaller systems have their own set of headaches

H Rebekah,

Welcome to Aquaponics Nation.

Small systems do have their particular challenges but, designed properly, a little goldfish-powered herb garden should be achievable.

Can you give us an idea of where you might place such a system?  The availability of sufficient light is imperative……so a nice sunny window might be OK if you're growing inside…….or, even better, a nice sunny place outside.

What's the weather like in Loveland?

Gary

Hi Gary,

In my house all of the windows are horribly placed (northern exposure) so it will have to go off a grow light. My current plan is in the basement. Loveland is on the front range, we have a dry climate that gets hot in the summers (90f) and cool in the winters. Avg 20F lows
